Dakar Rally - Argentina, Bolivia, Chile . The Dakar Rally (formerly known as the "Paris–Dakar Rally") is an annual rally raid. Most events since the inception in 1978 were from Paris, France, to Dakar, Senegal, but due to security threats in Mauritania, which led to the cancellation of the 2008 rally, the Dakar Rally has been held in South America each year since 2009. The race is open to amateur and professional entries. For ten years now Robby Gordon is the most well known American participating in the Dakar. Although a first place finish still eludes him, he is building a strong following in South America.
